Meet Mitch, Our Motivation to Endure
The only son of John and Tracy Whitaker and big brother to sister Meredith, Mitchell was born May 15, 1997. Exceptionally bright, kind, highly competitive, athletic and tender-hearted, Mitchell was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) in 2005 at the age of 8.

Over the course of the next two years, Mitchell continued to excel in school and on the baseball field despite frequent hospital stays and the effects of chemotherapy. With aspirations of becoming a doctor and finding a cure of the disease that made his childhood a “roadblock” filled challenge, Mitchell’s warrior spirit and determination to beat his condition inspired all those who knew him.
In August 2007, the cancer returned and Mitchell passed away a month later on September 27.
